Help your children learn how to pronounce French correctly and to make the sound-spelling link accurately! £49 Click here to order
This resource is suitable for all year groups at KS2 French, but is best to start after your children have learnt French for around a year. Common words are used, such as numbers 1-20, colours, parts of the body, animals and greetings. Children learn which letters and letter strings make each sound. The most difficult sounds in French are covered, such as the nasal sounds ‘on’, ‘in’ and ‘un’ and the ‘r’ sound, as well as silent letters.

The
‘ou’ sound lesson plan
Each planet has its own sound and children go on a voyage of discovery to work out the sound-spelling link in French. Children listen to songs and rhymes and play games identifying each sound, and then go on to practice saying a rhyme or tongue twister with the sound in. Children learn how to read and pronounce new words accurately.
Presentation, listening and practice activities are all included in this resource, with voiceovers recorded by native speakers, so that children can imitate accurately.
This resource includes teacher’s notes and lesson plans and has been trialled in the classroom. One of the main aims throughout the KS2 Framework for Modern Languages is for children to make the sound-spelling link, and this can be one of the most difficult for non-specialists. This resource makes fulfilling that requirement very easy to achieve.
Teachers who have used this resource say,
“At the end of a year using this resource,
my children went on to High School being able to pronounce French accurately.
Their French teacher was very impressed. The children particularly enjoyed
practising the rhymes and tongue twisters for each sound. It is easy to
use with everything provided and native speakers for the children to copy.
I highly recommend it.”
Cathy Sykes, St Joseph’s RC Primary School
