This resource is recommended as a follow up to the popular 'Plančtes Phoniques'. Phoniques 2: Spontaneous Speech will help to develop your pupils' skills so that they will be able to blend difficult phonemes, build sentences and take part in conversations where they seek and give their opinions about a variety of different topics.
This resource aims to develop one of the most difficult skills. Ofsted, in its report 'The Changing Landscape of Languages' stated that 'students' speaking skills were an area of particular weakness in all key stages' and that 'a further hindrance to speaking fluently was that sound-spelling links were not taught well'. Ofsted also noted in the report that features that were often mssing in Schemes of Work were sound-spelling links.
This resource will help you to teach and practise sound-spelling links, develop sentence-building skills and repeat high frequency phrases in many different contexts.
It is recommended for use with Y8 and Y9 pupils who have followed the Plančtes Phoniques course in Y7, and is also suitable for early GCSE.
Teacher's notes, Speaking Mats for pupils and lesson plans are included and the activities help to develop the important skills in a fun and engaging way. Pupils will be able to work at National Curriculums 3 - 6 for the skills of Speaking with this resource.
